Dhiti

in

Though we have remarkably skilled engineers in India, our engineering, innovative and groundbreaking solutions hardly reach to the poor, where it is needed. To protract this knowledge to the grassroots, we present DHITI(Sanskrit for 'An Idea'), where in, you have to design effective, efficient, feasible and economical modules to curb the potential problems of India. Participants will be provided with certain broad areas and a gist on each of them. Their solutions or models should be targeted at solving the problems faced in those areas.

Dhiti will be conducted in three phases:

Health Care Gadget

Do u have what it takes to outdate the existing health care facilities….then APOGEE is a good platform to showcase your skills.
Problem Statement: Your challenge is to design an electronic gadget for the blind people. The gadget should aid them in their mobility.

The specifications of the gadget are as follows:
- Voltage Source: Less than or equal to 12 volts ( if applicable)
- Weight: Atmost 1.5 kgs

RULES

• The team may consist of utmost three members.
• An individual cannot participate in more than one team for a given event.

Circuit Design Contest

The participants will be provided with some ICs and are expected to design a circuit with the given ICs only such that the circuit can accomplish the task given by the organizers. The circuits will be judged based on their efficiency, robustness. The participants will be asked to make minor changes in the circuit to suit the modified task,on spot.

The participants would be given an on the spot problem wherein they will be asked to design a circuit on breadboard using the components provided.

Blueprint

Blueprint is a design competition which will test your skills to approach a new problem in an innovative manner. It provides you the opportunity to come forward with your unique and innovative idea. A design problem is provided and it is to be analyzed and solution devised. This event leaps a step forward to find a solution to the energy impediment to economic progress.

Rules

1) A team can consist of a maximum of 5 members

Layers

This is an online competition, designed to test your mettle at post processing an image. The aim of this event is to give the image an aesthetic look, and to improve the overall impact of an image.

The participant is required to download the problem image for the first round from this website. Participants shortlisted through the first round, will again compete in the second round, and the final prize winners will be decided. Prize winning entries will be showcased during Panorama,a photography exhibition during APOGEE. This event will start on 8th February.

Virtuosity

• Your design can be a simulation of any process in any field. You can even add your own workable innovations to existing processes or even design a new process, provided it is practically feasible.

• Your design should necessarily be interfaced with an external hardware. You can transmit/ receive data from the hardware through any means.

• Minimise your assumptions. As far as possible take all your inputs from the user or through communication with an external hardware.

Srishti

Srishti tests the design skills of aspiring architects by bombarding them with application based problems in AUTOCAD 10 and Google Sketch Up. The participants will be asked to design and/or draw specified views, details or sections of materials. This event is very demanding and the participants look forward to push their grey cells to the extremes.

RULES

• The event consists of three rounds.

• In each round elimination will be there.

• In the first two rounds we have to solve problems in AUTOCAD 10.
